Heathrow is an International Airport located in London. On March 20, 2025, the busiest airport in the U.S. was forced to close due to an intense fire at a nearby electrical substation. More than 29000 passengers were affected, and over 1300 flights were canceled. Passengers are worried about their work due to flight delays.
“The Incident”
It started at about 11:23 PM on March 20 when a North Hyde substation caught fire due to an electrical spark. More than Ten fire engines and 70 firefighters tried to cover the fire but the fire severely increased and damaged the critical infrastructure of the power supply. Approximately, the fire consumed 2500 liters of cooling oil within a transformer. The firefighters tried their best to cover the fire but it was out of control.

Due to the power outage, all the Heathrow Airport operations were closed immediately. while the airport energy backup systems were started they were insufficient to maintain operations. All the airports closed due to the fire and all flights were canceled. Many passengers faced cancelation of their flights and it also disturbed Global air travel. Due to the closure all incoming and outgoing flights faced disruption.
