It's hardly surprising that there is buzz about a Happy Gilmore sequel as the film is frequently ranked among the top 10 Adam Sandler films and one of the best sports comedies ever made.

There was so much excitement that on Tuesday, thousands of people waited in line at the Hyatt Regency Morristown for an open casting call for "Happy Gilmore 2."

Morristown's Instagram account posted a video showing lines of people waiting to try out for a role, along with a statement saying that "about 1,500" individuals were allowed upstairs.

There were long lineups outside the hotel, where people were expecting to have a chance to be extras in the movie, which is scheduled to film in New Jersey from September to November.

An open casting call was held last week by talent agency Grant Wolfley Casting, Inc., with the disclaimer that prior acting experience was not required.

Despite its initial negative reviews from reviewers, "Happy Gilmore" was a commercial success and currently has a 62 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
